Barry W. James, CPA - Founder
A native of Baytown, Barry brings almost 25 years of experience in successfully performing financial planning and public accounting for clients. Beginning in 1982 when he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston at Clear Lake, Barry began his professional journey by joining a local accounting firm. After a few years and the recognition of attaining his Certified Public Accountant Certificate in 1987, Barry transitioned to the next level by opening what has become one of the leading locally-owned and operated CPA firms in the area, providing exceptional tax and accounting services to a diversified client base.
Barry has expanded the area of financial estate planning to be an integral part of the firm’s service model. An innate ability to recognize distinctions relating to the steps necessary for individual financial management allows Barry to help direct clients to the best path leading to their own financial security.
Barry enjoys developing and maintaining close relationships with each client as he assists them with their tax, accounting and personal wealth needs. Always a strong advocate for his clients, his expertise lies in IRS, state and local jurisdiction audits, as well as small business and personal consulting.
Barry’s ability to think outside the box continues to facilitate the swift growth of BW James LLP, allowing the firm to hire additional CPAs, paraprofessional staff members and other office personnel to best serve our clients. Barry is a long-standing member in the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, the National Society of Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was recently selected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Rehabilitation Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to making a difference to thousands of children and adults with disabilities in Baytown and the surrounding East Houston communities.
